Future Series - Introduction

By Hilda Lunderstedt, 11 September 2017

Over the next few weeks I will share my learnings from the last year, with the hope of enlightening you as to where the world is going and the impact it will have on our lives.

I am honoured to be a part of Peter Diamandis' Abundance360 mastermind group. This is a group of around 200 like-minded individuals, sharing ideas as well as getting together once a year to discuss how to solve the planet's grandest challenges. I love these discussions, as it gives me a view of how change-makers think and what the world, they envisage in the future, looks like. This is also a place where, I am happy to say, I am not the craziest thinker in the room. I also attended Singularity University's executive program where a selective group of business leaders came together to get an in-depth understanding of and learn about the disruption that is upon us. Singularity University also hosted the first 2-day summit in South Africa, which I attended, supporting all the conversations I have been privy to and sharing with a few thousand of my fellow country-men.

I am delighted to see that these discussions, which used to be for a select few, are now becoming main stream. It is now so easy for anyone wanting to be prepared for the uncertain future, to get the knowledge and understanding of how the world of the future will look like. Although scary, attempting to understand the change coming and how to be prepared for it, is also exciting. Change is happening faster than what anyone is expecting and as a person who sees herself as someone who is forward thinking as a human, a business-person, a parent and someone who understands most of the new world, I am really scared and concerned for the many people with their heads in the sand, thinking that disruption is not going to affect them, their jobs or their businesses.

To negotiate the future will not require a different way of thinking, but a transformed way of thinking. 'Out of the box' thinking is irrelevant when there is no longer a box to think outside of. With the articles I will share over the next couple of weeks, I hope to motivate people to get up to speed with the changes coming and be prepared for it, because there will be a lot of opportunities for the prepared minds and even if you think change and disruption will not impact you (for whatever reason you might think so), it is still an interesting topic to know about, as it will most certainly have an impact on the lives of the next generations.
